It's been a long time since there has been a "real" FidoCon, at least in the United States. When there was one occurring every year, they were typically held in a major city at a large hotel that provided conference rooms, exhibit space, nice rooms, excellent meals, and room service. Some within our region complained that it was usually too far away, and that it was too expensive to attend. So in 1988, Dewey Thiessen organized the very first Poor Man's FidoCon and Lake Party, and a tradition was born. Other than an afternoon seminar at OneBBSCon, FidoCon has all but died. But the Poor Man's FidoCon and Lake Party continues.
